How can I get a product like type that I am currently purchasing? All of the different brands, types and absorbency descriptions do get confusing! Click here to find a comparative First Quality Product.
Why should I use an incontinence product rather than a feminine hygiene pad? Most feminine hygiene products are designed for a slow volume of menstrual flow and do not handle urine flow volume and odors well. A high performing Prevail® incontinence product will manage the urine flow, neutralize urine odor and lock up the urine for a dry, comfortable fit. Men with light incontinence needs feel secure with a Male Guard worn inside of brief style underwear.
Aren’t all incontinence products the same? Appearances can be deceiving. Products may look similar but, there are differences in the quality of materials, design, comfort and performance. The products featured by Disposables Delivered are technologically superior to most other brands on the market.
Why are there so many sizes of briefs? Proper fit of a brief ensures the best performance. If you are using the Product Genie, you may notice a recommendation for more than one size of brief in a performance level. If you are not certain which product will fit best, you can order samples through our Dry Run Program.
What is a regular size brief? The regular size is in between a medium size and a large and fits hip sizes of 40”- 48”. The X-Treme Fit Regular size is 32”- 44”. The regular size is lavender color and is intended to offer confident protection and a sleek fit.
How do you know what size of brief is best? It is very important to determine the proper size of Briefs, Prevail® Fits to a T™ and Protective Underwear. Use a measuring tape to measure around the waist and the hips. Whichever measurement is larger is the product size measurement that you should choose. Measurements for each size and style of worn products are noted with the product information. You may consult the Height and Weight Chart to find the proper size. Please note, for best performance briefs and protective underwear should fit snugly like a pair of brief style underwear. Loosely applied products are likely to leak.
Will wearing a pad inside of a disposable brief or protective underwear increase the absorbency? No. In order for the incontinence product to absorb, the inside of the product must be in contact with fluid. A pad worn within a disposable brief or protective underwear will actually prevent absorption of the brief or protective underwear. Double product use will cause bulkiness, irritation, discomfort and leakage. It takes only one piece of the proper product to provide adequate protection.
What is the difference among the types Protective Underwear featured? All of the featured Prevail® Protective Underwear choices contain “super absorbent” technology to neutralize urine odor and to lock up urine. All of the Protective Underwear Styles have a breakaway seam on the sides for easy removal. The Superabsorbent Protective Underwear (PVS-512 and PVS-513) has more of the superabsorbent material and will hold more urine than the other styles. Per-Fit Protective Underwear is comparable to many of the products on the market. The Refastenable Protective Underwear allows removal and application without removing pants. The UltraThin Protective Underwear is so thin yet absorbent that it cannot be detected under clothing.
Are there wetness indicators on the products? All of the briefs offered on the Disposables Delivered site have yellow/tan lines from the front to the back of the crotch area. These lines will turn to a blue color when the brief is wet. The blue line may be more evident toward the rear of the product when used by women.
How should soiled products be disposed of? Briefs, Prevail® T™ and Refastenable Protective Underwear should be rolled up to contain any materials and odors. Closure tabs can be used to secure the product. If care is being provided by someone other than the product wearer, gloves used for protection can be pulled inside out over the rolled, soiled product. Disposal is detailed on the Continence Management Video. Please note that urine is usually odorless until it comes in contact with air. The odor of feces is unavoidable. A plastic bag may also be used to minimize odors for any used incontinence products. Incontinence Products should never be flushed in a toilet. A Disposal System such as the Playtex Diaper Genie XL may be helpful.
How do you cleanse the skin of someone who has been incontinent? Gently cleansing the skin of one who is incontinent will provide comfort, reduce the chance of skin irritation and minimize odors. It is always best to wear gloves when providing incontinence care. If the individual has been incontinent of bowel, gently remove any excess stool from the skin using toilet tissue or the unsoiled areas of the used product. Use a pre-moistened Incontinence Wipe to wipe from clean to soiled. Avoid wiping toward the urinary or vaginal opening. Technique for “Perineal Care” is detailed on the Continence Management Video. Using soap and water may be harsh and drying to the skin. First Quality Washcloths (Incontinence Wipes) balance the skin pH and provide skin friendly emollients. Always cleanse the skin after urinary or fecal incontinence.
Can Incontinence Wipes be flushed in the toilet? Personal Incontinence Cloths (PR-310) are the only First Quality wipes offered that are engineered to be flushable. Consider your plumbing before flushing. Never flush multiple cloths.
